Outside of an old-school Mason jar, it's hard to beat the low $25 price of this Takeya cold coffee brewer. The BPA free dishwasher safe plastic pitcher comes with an airtight seal and has a slim profile made to slide into fridge door shelves. With its fine mesh reusable filter, It's also easy to clean and makes solidly satisfying cold brew. If you want strong, concentrated coffee though, the Takeya Cold Brew isn't your cup of tea. It brews a weaker drink than other similar products. 

On a single charge, the CrazyCap will last up to two months, but only if you leave it to autoclean. Manually starting the purification cycle affects that charge time, though CrazyCap doesn't specify by how much.  

The CrazyCap also has an autoclean function, which turns on six times per day for 20 seconds. CrazyCap says this periodical exposure to UV-C light prevents microbial growth and odor, and it seems to work: After three days of use, I didn't notice any smells or films inside the bottle. Additionally, water from the CrazyCap bottle tasted significantly better than water from the tap faucet.

Most robot vacuum makers say you should empty their robots' dustbins after each cleaning session. Both iRobot and Neato suggest this for their Roomba and Botvac models. iRobot even tells you to rinse robot bins with warm water, then to let it air dry.

Some gadgets even create cold brew in a fraction of the time it usually takes. The $109 Gourmia Cold Brew and $129 Dash Rapid are excellent examples. Both countertop machines complete the process in minutes, not hours.   

The Larq, CrazyCap and Mahaton all use UV-C light to zap all of the major waterborne pathogens; they're all made of stainless steel; and they all have automatic cleaning cycles. On top of that, all three are super easy to use and they all have battery notifications so they'll never die without warning.

Traditional cold brewers like those require at least 12 hours to produce their beverages, but devotees will tell you the stuff is worth the wait.

The Roomba S9 Plus and Roomba i7 Plus take dustbin maintenance to the next level. These models come with a CleanBase dock that automatically vacuums out their dustbins. Dirt then ends up in a disposable bag big enough to hold 30 bin-fulls of debris. It's also a snap to remove and toss into the trash.

The $129 Dash Rapid is part of a new wave of fast cold-brew coffee makers. It uses an electric pump to create internal vacuum pressure. This pressure causes water to circulate between a glass carafe, through coffee grounds within a filter chamber and back. The machine runs the loop continuously during the brewing process. Afterwards, in as little as 5 minutes, brewed coffee returns to the Dash's carafe. As cold brew goes, what the Dash makes has a bit of a weak taste. Unlike the CrazyCap and the Larq, the Mahaton bottle doesn't have an additional purification setting for bodies of water that might contain more contaminants, such as streams and other sources of groundwater. For that reason, I'd recommend only using the Mahaton bottle with indoor sources of water unless the company releases a new bottle with an additional setting.
